Summer Service
What is Summer Service?
Each year 6-8 young adults are chosen to spend 6 weeks experiencing a different culture. They return just in time to share what they have learned with the Conference family. All young adults who have been out of high school for one year and are not yet 24 are eligible. Interviews are scheduled during Conference. Applications are to be filed by September 1. Applicants are selected and notified following the Fall Board meeting in October.

2011 South Korea

It has been 26 years since a Conference team traveled to South Korea. As South Korea has become the most wired and IT-savvy nation in the world, it has also become the most missioning church in the new millennium. Rev. Dr. Kang Yup Na, religion professor at Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA served as Team Leader . He was born in Korea of first generation Christians and gave special insight to this learning/serving experience. Students stayed at the seminary and had opportunities to interact with other students, churches and serve alongside Koreans from both North and South Korea.

Caitlin Rohrer, seminary student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, served as Team leader. This year's team joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in a variety of conferences and outreach ministries, which allowed them to both learn and serve. They assisted in leading youth and sports camps, clean-ups, and also visited missionaries. Please keep them in your prayers as they adjust to their newly formed worldviews.
