Lynn and Sharon Kandel live in Millersburg, Ohio, and have also served in Florida, Tanzania, and South Sudan. Their deep connection to East Africa includes many visits to Kenya, as well as Sharon’s childhood in Ethiopia, where her parents served as PC(USA) missionaries.

In Tanzania, Lynn managed church and hospital construction projects, while Sharon worked with local women’s groups and homeschooled their son. In South Sudan, Lynn helped with school construction, and Sharon supported the finance office of the education department. They also served as Regional Liaisons for Sudan, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, connecting partners in East Africa with PC(USA) congregations and offices in the United States.

Lynn and Sharon are grateful for the opportunity to serve as team leaders for this year’s summer service trip to Kenya. They look forward to experiencing Kenya through the eyes of the Summer Service team, learning from the people of Kenya, and growing together in faith and service.
